Exploring colorful wedding bouquet designs is one of my most favorite parts of wedding planning. Scouring Pinterest is so easy to do when you’re looking at lush bouquets filled with colorful ranunculus, exquisite peonies and vibrant Irithuriums. We gush over all the colorful floral creations our favorite florists create for our fun couples. So much so that we decided to round up some of our favorite wedding bouquets and tips to inspire you when it comes to YOUR wedding bouquet.

1. Decide the overall wedding aesthetic with your wedding planner first

Hiring your wedding planner should be one of the first things you do in your wedding planning process. Your wedding planner will help guide you in your wedding design. Once you have your color scheme and overall style set, it makes moving onto your floral vision so much easier. You want your day to be cohesive and tell a visual story. Having your overall style and design set makes it easier to collaborate with your florist and create a colorful wedding bouquet.

2. Communicate with your florist about your wedding colors and bouquet inspiration

If you’re anything like me, you don’t know much about flowers. All I knew is that they’re pretty and I love colorful wedding bouquets. Communicating with your florist is key. Show them pictures of your dress and the mood board your wedding planner has created. It’s a good idea to have your dress picked out before you made decisions on your wedding florals. Experienced Florists will know what bouquet design will be the most flattering for you, fit the silhouette of your dress and match the overall aesthetic of your day.

3. Coordinate your wedding bouquet colors, don’t match them

Many brides opt to match their bridesmaids’ bouquets with their bridesmaids’ dresses and use the same colors. In order to best complement dresses, choose varying shades of your color palette so their dresses and your bouquets pop. For example, emerald green dresses with other jewel-tones like citrine, sapphire and burgundy. Using a wider range of colors will have a huge impact.

4. Don’t forget the ribbon

I personally LOVE seeing ribbon with long tails cascading down a bouquet. It’s especially beautiful and eye-catching when you use multiple colors of silk ribbon that are cohesive with your color palette.

5. Go Bold

Don’t be afraid of color! Especially if you have darker bridesmaids dresses or their on the softer side, adding pops of color in your wedding bouquet will create a beautiful contrast against their dresses and yours.
