As a Colorado-based wedding photographer, I specialize in capturing vibrant, bold moments across the stunning Colorado landscape. But when Kendall reached out to me about doing a destination bridal session at The McNay Art Museum in Texas, I couldn’t resist. This session was a perfect blend of fun, playful energy with an editorial, whimsical, and romantic vibe — and I’m so excited to share it with you.

While I primarily serve Colorado, I love getting the chance to photograph destination sessions for my brides. Not only does it allow me to capture fresh, diverse locations, but it also provides my brides with a chance to have a bridal portrait session before the wedding day. This isn’t just about getting beautiful pictures — it’s about the experience. So, let’s dive into why I absolutely adore bridal sessions and why they’re so special for both my couples and myself.

Why Bridal Portraits Are a Must-Have Before Your Wedding Day

When you book a bridal session, you’re giving yourself the luxury of time and space to really focus on your look, your gown, and your overall vibe. I’ve always believed in making sure my brides feel relaxed, beautiful, and completely confident in their wedding-day style. A bridal portrait session is the perfect way to do this — and here’s why.

1. More Time for Your Session, Less Stress on Your Wedding Day

Weddings can get hectic, with a packed schedule and a ton of moving parts. A bridal session lets you slow down and savor your bridal glow without feeling rushed. Instead of squeezing in all your portraits on your wedding day between events and family photos, you get to enjoy a leisurely session where we can take our time and make sure every shot is just right.

2. The Opportunity for a Variety of Locations and Looks

One of my favorite things about bridal portraits is that we can choose any location — whether it’s a classic venue or somewhere unique like The McNay Art Museum — for a different aesthetic than what you’ll get on your wedding day. Kendall’s bridal session, for example, was filled with the museum’s stunning architecture and lush surroundings, which gave us a playful, romantic vibe. It was a completely different feel than what we’ll get at her wedding in Colorado, and I love that about doing destination bridal shoots.

3. A Trial Run for Hair, Makeup, and Dress

A bridal session is the perfect opportunity to wear your dress from head to toe, try out your hair and makeup, and get a feel for how it all comes together. This gives you time to make adjustments or tweaks before the big day, ensuring that you feel 100% confident walking down the aisle. Kendall’s bridal session allowed her to make sure everything was just right — and it gave her the chance to see how everything looked in a beautiful, iconic location.

4. Create Timeless Photos You’ll Cherish Forever

Bridal portraits are a celebration of you, your beauty, and the excitement you’re feeling as you prepare to marry the love of your life. The photos are personal and timeless, and they capture you at your most radiant. Kendall’s session at The McNay was no exception — her photos were whimsical, romantic, and editorial all at once. These are photos she’ll cherish for a lifetime.

The McNay Art Museum: A Perfect Venue for Bridal Photos

When Kendall chose The McNay Art Museum for her destination bridal session, I knew we were in for something special. The museum’s elegant architecture, expansive gardens, and art-filled interiors created a stunning backdrop for Kendall’s whimsical vision. From her playful, fun moments to the more editorial, dreamy portraits, we were able to capture the full range of her bridal beauty. The McNay provided both the vibrant energy and romantic vibes that Kendall envisioned, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Why I Love Destination Bridal Sessions in Texas, Colorado, and Beyond

Although I’m based in Colorado and love shooting weddings in the Rockies, destination bridal sessions like Kendall’s offer a new level of creativity and excitement. Whether you’re getting married in Colorado or a completely different location, I love helping brides experience the joy of a photoshoot that’s just for them. If you’re considering a destination bridal portrait session, here’s why you should think about incorporating one into your wedding plans:

• You’ll have beautiful, high-quality images in multiple locations, offering a variety of styles to match your wedding aesthetic.

• Truly experience your bridal look before your wedding day.

• Enjoy a fun, stress-free session without worrying about tight wedding day schedules.
